Garbage

I turned on the TV as I sat down to nurse Eisley this evening. "Family Guy" was playing on the TV so I immediately changed the station. Emmett said, "I want to watch that!" I said, "No, that's garbage, I don't want to watch garbage." Throughout the next 15 minutes Emmett sporadically asked to watch "garbage." I then went upstairs to put Eisley to bed. I came back downstairs, my mind completely cleared of our earlier conversations about "garbage" television. Emmett came over to me and asked to watch "gabaas." I said, "thomas?" He said, "no, gabaas." "Garbage?" He replied, "yes, I want to watch garbage on TV." I explained to him why I call it garbage and why we don't fill our minds with garbage. I quoted Philipians 4:8 to the best of my memory, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

I hope I haven't offended any "Family Guy" watchers. It's just not the type of information I want my two year old's spongy little mind absorbing!

Or anyone's mind! I totally agree with you! And they wrap the garbage in the comic section to appeal to little ones.

Agreed! Now that I have children I rarely even watch TV because of this very reason!
